Chelsea handed Michael Olise transfer update amid Liverpool plan and Bayern Munich stance

2 hours ago 24

Bayern Munich's sporting director, Christoph Freund, has issued a stern warning to Chelsea and Liverpool that the German club will not be pressured into selling Michael Olise. The France international, who continues to be linked with a Premier League return, joined the Bundesliga titans in a €60m (£52m) deal in the summer of 2024 and quickly became one of their standout performers.

The 23-year-old forward recorded an eye-catching 20 goals and 23 assists from 55 appearances across all competitions last season, playing a pivotal role in Bayern's Bundesliga triumph.

Olise has maintained his stellar form into the current campaign, boasting five goals and six assists from just 10 matches so far this season.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the former Crystal Palace player reportedly drawing attention from several top European clubs, including both Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Blues are long-term suitors for the Frenchman, having twice missed out on his signature in the past.

Olise, who spent seven years in Chelsea's academy, rejected a move back to the London club in the summer of 2023, despite them triggering his £35m release clause. Instead, he chose to renew his contract with Crystal Palace.

Chelsea showed interest again ahead of his move to Bayern, but eventually pulled out due to the surplus of players they already had in his position.

BILD report they are still interested in the forward, while they also claim that both Liverpool and Manchester City are also keeping close eye on the Frenchman.

Reports suggest it would now require at least €100m to prise Olise away from Bayern next summer, though BILD claims such a hefty price tag wouldn't deter potential suitors.

Conscious of this mounting interest, Bayern are said to be working on fresh terms for the 23-year-old in an attempt to ward off admirers.

Nevertheless, Olise's existing deal runs until 2029 and Freund has issued a stark warning to prospective buyers that Bayern view the winger's future as firmly tied to the German giants.

"We're not under any pressure," the sporting director revealed on German football podcast Sky90 - which is a Sky Sport Germany production. "We can imagine him playing for Bayern for the next seven, eight, or nine years.

"Michael has a long-term contract, he proved himself and took steps forward."

Fellow Bayern sporting director Max Erbel has also voiced his determination to keep Olise at the Allianz Arena.

"He still has over three and a half years left on his contract," he was recently quoted as saying by BILD when discussing fresh terms for the winger. "He will increasingly become a decisive factor in FC Bayern's game and shape the future of this team - if it's up to us; the longer, the better."
