Antoine Semenyo's £65million buy-out clause, an initial £60m plus £5m in add-ons, expires on January 10

Chelsea are considering a late surge to snatch Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo.

The Blues, who have so far been on the periphery of the mad transfer scramble for the Ghana international, are understood to have made checks on the conditions of Semenyo's release clause.

The £65million buy-out clause, an initial £60m plus £5m in add-ons, expires on January 10 and a decision on his future is expected to be made before the end of 2025.

Manchester City and Manchester United are both in the mix while an approach from Liverpool is yet to have been ruled out following Alexander Isak's leg fracture.

Crucially, Semenyo was born in Chelsea and is thought to have an affiliation to the west London club, even though he's a self-proclaimed Arsenal fan.

Tottenham too, were keen on the 25-year-old attacker but are believed to have been told a transfer isn't probable.

Chelsea recruited two left-wingers last summer in £40m Alejandro Garnacho and £48.5m Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund but Gittens did not even make the bench in the 2-2 draw at Newcastle.

Versatile Semenyo is one of the hottest commodities on the market having already struck eight Premier League goals this season for the Cherries.

The Blues previously looked into signing the starlet for around £1m in January 2019 when he was a teenager at Bristol City.

Semenyo only penned a new long-term contract with Bournemouth last July but Andoni Iraola's side are now preparing to part company with their talisman.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes knows the player and his family well having brought Semenyo to the Vitality Stadium from Bristol City for around £10m in January 2023.

The Championship club also have a 20 per cent sell-on clause and will be due a cut of profit from any sale.
