Chelsea have already secured summer transfer deal that creates Estevao Willian problem

Chelsea have already completed a deal for the summer of 2026 that will add to Enzo Maresca's options but might create an issue surrounding Estevao Willian at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have already made a couple of signings ahead of next year's summer transfer window. One being Emanuel Emegha from sister club Strasbourg, and the other Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP.

Since BlueCo took over the club, Chelsea have operated in a way that allows them to get ahead of their rivals with forward-thinking planning. See the deal to sign 16-year-old Ecuadorian centre-back Deinner Ordonez from Independiente del Valle last week, for instance.

Back in March, the Blues agreed a deal - that football.london understands to be worth £40million - with Sporting CP to sign Quenda, a highly-rated winger who was of big interest to Manchester United and their manager Ruben Amorim, who worked with the Portugal international at the Jose Alvalade Stadium. Quenda will move to Stamford Bridge officially in the summer of 2026 as a deal was struck with Sporting for the 18-year-old to play the ongoing 2025/26 campaign with the Portuguese club.

Quenda is typically a right-sided winger, who loves to cut in on his preferred left foot. Similarly to Estevao Willian, which in itself creates a bit of an issue for Enzo Maresca in terms of two extremely talented youngsters vying for possibly one position. A great issue to have, mind you.

The teenager came through at Sporting as the more attacking wing-back in the 3-4-2-1 formation that Amorim loves to play, though he was used predominantly as a right winger in a 4-3-3 throughout his academy days. Another Chelsea signing that is capable of playing in various positions across the front line - something we know Maresca loves in his attackers.

Estevao has been used as a No.10 and right winger, as has Cole Palmer. Pedro Neto sometimes plays off the left wing, despite his natural role being on the other side. Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, too, have swapped wings during matches. There will be no set position for Quenda.

Whether Quenda is loaned elsewhere to earn more valuable first-team experience, or whether he is thrown straight into the deep end like his soon-to-be teammate Estevao has been, remains to be seen. A move to sister side Strasbourg could be beneficial given the wide options Maresca already has at his disposal.

In the Portuguese league, Quenda is showing he is more than ready for regular first-team football. The winger has 10 direct goal contributions this season already - with four goals and six assists - in 18 appearances across all competitions. How he adapts to the Premier League, though, is a different question.

Either way, Chelsea have what they believe to be an incredible talent on their hands once the summer of 2026 rolls around. On top of Estevao, Palmer, Moises Caicedo - the list could go on - the Blues find themselves in an extremely healthy position when it comes to the future.
