Chelsea are a matter of weeks away from the start of the Premier League season and all eyes will be on the Blues to see how they capitalise on the momentum built over the summer.
While the vast majority of their Premier League rivals were recuperating after a gruelling campaign, Enzo Maresca's side were in the United States competing in the Club World Cup. Despite not being one of the favourites, Chelsea managed to go all the way and become champions of the world.
This may have been a great achievement, Maresca will be all too aware that his side cannot be complacent next month when they return to the Premier League facing sides who have had longer rests and pre-seasons. With this in mind, there is still a desire to do business in the transfer window from Chelsea's perspective.
Football.london has taken a closer look at the news and rumours circulating around the Blues to kickstart your Wednesday.
Cucurella plan unfolds
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are prepared to offer Marc Cucurella a new contract this summer to warn off interest from Saudi Arabia. Al Nassr are believed to be keen on the full-back who was integral last season.
Cucurella is seen as a key figure in the Chelsea project moving forward.
What FL says: There is little chance that Chelsea would willingly let Cucurella leave this summer. Since the Euro 2024 success, the Spaniard has been performing spectacularly and consistently for the Blues and would deserve a new and improved deal to keep him tethered to Chelsea. We understand there is no intention to sell the full-back while he continues to perform at such a high standard.
Garnacho price tag set
In The Independent, it is reported that Manchester United have offered Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea and Aston Villa this summer. There is believed to have been talk about the potential to do a swap deal which would see Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins move to Old Trafford, respectively.
However, the Blues value Garnacho at just £30m whereas Jackson's price tag is up at £80m making a straight swap deal implausible.
What FL says: If Chelsea really want to bring Garnacho to Stamford Bridge, they can afford to bide their time on this one. United are arguably in a more desperate position because they need the money to strengthen their centre-forward position.
The Blues meanwhile have already added Jamie Gittens and Garnacho would likely be signed merely to provide competition. As the window gets closer to shutting, United are more and more likely to lower their asking price so going in with a low valuation is perhaps their best course of action.
