Chelsea return to Premier League action this weekend, hosting Everton at Stamford Bridge after their midweek Champions League defeat to Atalanta

Enzo Maresca is hopeful that Cole Palmer will make his long-awaited return from injury in Chelsea's Premier League clash against Everton on Saturday afternoon (3pm). Palmer has endured a difficult campaign with injuries, restricting him to just six appearances in all competitions.

The 23-year-old first picked up a groin problem before breaking a toe which sidelined him for 15 games across all competitions. Although he sat out Chelsea's 2-1 Champions League defeat to Atalanta in midweek as a precaution, he could be back in contention this weekend.

"Yeah, he's okay, he's better," Maresca said of Palmer in his press conference on Friday. "He's at the moment available. We have one more session this afternoon.

"Yesterday he finished the session with us with a mixed feeling, but overall he's okay."

Wesley Fofana will also return to the matchday squad, with Maresca confirming he's 'completely fine.'

"He's available, he's fine," the Italian added. "He took part in the session yesterday and he's completely fine."

Meanwhile, Moises Caicedo remains absent as he serves suspension for the accumulation of yellow cards. He will be available for selection in the Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Cardiff City on December 16.

With that said, football.london has taken a look at the other latest injury news from the treatment room.

Injury: Shoulder.

What Maresca has said: "We don't know yet [how long he will be out for]. It can be still two, three, four weeks. We don't know exactly how many days he needs."

Dario Essugo

The midfielder has been sidelined since September.

Injury: Thigh.

What Maresca said last week: "Dario, he was okay, started some sessions with us, but he needs to slow down a little bit and will be out, but we hope nothing important. We hope he will be fine."

Potential return date: December/January 2026.

Levi Colwill

Injury: Knee.

What Maresca said in August: "Levi has today undergone successful surgery [for] an ACL injury. Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action. Levi will now begin his recovery and be supported by the medical department at Cobham during his rehab phase."

Potential return date: Spring/summer 2026.

Romeo Lavia

Lavia picked up another injury during Chelsea's Champions League clash against Qarabag last month.

Injury: Thigh.

What Maresca has said: "It's a muscle problem. We don't know yet when he can be back. We don't know [if it will be long or short-term]."

Potential return date: Unknown.

Mykhailo Mudryk

Suspended after being charged by the Football Association (FA) with anti-doping rule violations.

What Maresca said in the summer: "We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time."

Potential return date: January 2026.
