Chelsea have several injury concerns to manage after the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League

Chelsea had new players added to the injury list after the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The Blues suffered a 3-0 loss in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, which saw them exit the competition with an 8-2 defeat on aggregate in the last-16 tie.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Senny Mayulu scored the goals for PSG to hand Chelsea another heavy defeat in Europe.

Liam Rosenior’s side will now turn their attention toward returning to Premier League action this weekend, which will be their final match before the March international break gets underway.

Chelsea were handed fresh injury blows during the defeat to PSG, which could leave Rosenior with some selection dilemmas ahead of the clash against Everton on Saturday evening.

Here, football.london takes a look at the latest Chelsea injury news and potential return dates after the defeat to PSG...

Trevoh Chalobah

Trevoh Chalobah handed Chelsea a fresh injury blow after being carried off on a stretcher during the defeat to PSG.

The defender appeared to suffer an ankle injury and it remains to be seen at this stage how long he will be on the sidelines before returning to the matchday squad.

“I think he was really worried,” Rosenior said. “I've just checked with the medical team. We'll obviously scan and assess him tomorrow. We are hoping and praying that it's not as bad as we first feared.

Potential return date: Unknown.

Reece James

Reece James missed Chelsea’s defeat to PSG with a hamstring injury that Rosenior says the defender suffered during the weekend’s defeat to Newcastle.

Rosenior provided an update on James’ fitness after the loss to PSG at Stamford Bridge, with there still being no clear timeframe for a return.

“Not yet. I'm waiting for the full results of his scan,” Rosenior said. “And hopefully he's back sooner rather than later.”

Potential return date: Unknown.

Malo Gusto

Malo Gusto missed Chelsea’s defeat to PSG through illness, but the Blues will hope to have the defender available to face Everton this weekend.

"Malo [Gusto] and Benoit [Badiashile] both pulled out late today with illness - this is what football is about. Sometimes it throws these things up,” Rosenior said before kick-off on Tuesday night.

Potential return date: Everton (A) - March 21 - Premier League.

Benoit Badiashile

Benoit Badiashile also missed Chelsea’s defeat to PSG due to illness, with Rosenior confirming the defender’s absence before kick-off.

"Malo [Gusto] and Benoit [Badiashile] both pulled out late today with illness - this is what football is about. Sometimes it throws these things up,” Rosenior said.

Potential return date: Everton (A) - March 21 - Premier League.

Jamie Gittens

Jamie Gittens has been recovering from a hamstring injury in recent weeks, which has seen the forward miss Chelsea’s last 11 matches across all competitions.

The Blues will hope to have the summer signing back available in the near future, but Rosenior explained why there has been a delay in Gittens’ return.

“Jamie (Gittens) was due back on the bench [vs Newcastle] and he felt his hamstring late after training yesterday. So we're just checking up on him,” Rosenior said.

Potential return date: Unknown.

Filip Jorgensen

Filip Jorgensen has missed Chelsea’s last two matches with a groin injury that the goalkeeper picked up in the defeat to PSG in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

"With Filip Jorgensen, he felt something in his groin after the PSG game,” Rosenior said. “We are getting him scanned to find out the full extent of that injury."

Potential return date: Unknown.

Levi Colwill

Levi Colwill is continuing to recover from an ACL injury, which has kept the defender on the sidelines all season so far.

Chelsea will be hoping that Colwill will be able to feature towards the end of the season, if his recovery goes fully to plan.

Potential return date: May 2026.
