Chelsea line-ups for Napoli as Cole Palmer and Estevao Willian disagreement emerges

Chelsea make the trip to the Diego Armando Stadium on Wednesday evening to take on Napoli as Liam Rosenior looks to secure Champions League qualification for the Blues

Chelsea face perhaps their biggest game of the season on Wednesday evening as they go to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium needing a victory against reigning Italian champions Napoli.

Liam Rosenior is now preparing for the most crucial match since he took charge of the Blues, knowing that a win could see them qualify for the Champions League knockout rounds and avoid a two-legged playoff tie next month. Although there is no guarantee that even three points in Naples would be enough for Chelsea, with seven sides level with the Blues going into the final matchday. Goal difference will be crucial.

Rosenior faces some tough decisions regarding the line-up he fields in Italy on Wednesday night. And with that said, football.london writers Bobby Vincent and Sam Truelove discuss the XI they would field for this massive fixture.

Bobby Vincent

Rosenior needs to play his strongest XI. Who does that consist of? That is open to interpretation.

Robert Sanchez in goal, of course. In front of the goalkeeper, there could be a case for Malo Gusto at right-back alongside Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella in Chelsea's back four.

Reece James could move into midfield to give the west Londoners some more physicality in Naples. Moises Caicedo, of course, alongside the Blues captain, with Enzo Fernandez in the No.10 role in front of the midfield pairing.

That would mean Cole Palmer on the right-hand side should he be fit enough to start in Italy. Pedro Neto on the left with his work-rate off the ball integral for Chelsea against the Italian champions. Joao Pedro to lead the line, with the likes of Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho and Estevao Willian options from the bench for Rosenior.

Bobby's XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; James, Caicedo; Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro

Sam Truelove

This is a must win game for Chelsea. The Blues can still qualify for the round of 16 and avoid a two-legged play-off if they win in Italy on Wednesday, although still then nothing is guaranteed.

Rosenior will know how much of a challenge Napoli will be, though, and because of this the new head coach should name a strong starting XI.

That means Sanchez starts in goal, with Fofana and Benoit Badiashile the starting centre-backs. I would start Gusto at right-back and Cucurella at left-back. Gusto starts at right-back because I wouldn't mind James partnering Caicedo in midfield for this one. That extra power and experience may be valuable.

I would then start Neto, Fernandez and Estevao because all three were electric against Crystal Palace at the weekend. Then Joao Pedro starts for me in the striker role as the Brazilian has looked back to his best lately.

Sam's XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Badiashile, Cucurella; James, Caicedo; Estevao, Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro
