Chelsea had to settle for a point from their 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday afternoon
Chelsea have suffered a blow in the race to play Champions League football next season by dropping two points against relegation-threatened Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
Joao Pedro’s fourth-minute goal looked like it was going to be the difference between the two sides. But the game swung on its head 18 minutes from time when Wesley Fofana was shown a second yellow card.
And the deficit proved to be too much for the Blues, with Zian Flemming scoring an equaliser for Burnley in the 93rd minute. It means that Chelsea had to settle with a point from the game, which they would have targeted all three from.
The result does mean that Liam Rosenior’s men climb above Manchester United and into fourth position in the Premier League table on goal difference. But United have the chance to leapfrog them again when they are in action on Monday night.
The race for the top four positions is getting tight, with eyes on other results that could impact the race. With that in mind, here’s a look at what lies ahead for Chelsea and their rivals over the next couple of weeks.

Chelsea (4th place, 45 points)
Vs Arsenal (A) - Sun 1 March (4:30pm) - Premier League
Vs Aston Villa (A) - Weds 4 March (7:30pm) - Premier League
Vs Wrexham (A) - Sat 7 March (5:45pm) - FA Cup
Vs Newcastle (H) - Sat 14 March (5:30pm) - Premier League
Vs Everton (A) - Sat 21 March (5:30pm) - Premier League
On paper, Chelsea’s run is probably the hardest, especially with four of the next five games being away from home. Getting a result out of the trip to Arsenal would be a big boost to the Champions League hopes.
Man United (5th place, 45 points)
Vs Everton (A) - Mon 23 Feb (8pm) - Premier League
Vs Crystal Palace (H) - Sun 1 March (2pm) - Premier League
Vs Newcastle (A) - Weds 4 March (8:15pm) - Premier League
Vs Aston Villa (H) - Sun 15 March (2pm) - Premier League
Vs Bournemouth (A) - Fri 20 March (8pm) - Premier League
The standout match for United is the home game against Aston Villa, with the Midlands side dropping off after a really impressive start to the season. Unai Emery’s side will still provide a test for United, though.
Liverpool (6th place, 42 points)
Vs Nottingham Forest (A) - Sun 22 Feb (2pm) - Premier League
Vs West Ham (H) - Sat 28 Feb (3pm) - Premier League
Vs Wolves (A) - Tues 3 March (8:15pm) - Premier League
Vs Wolves (A) - Fri 6 March (8pm) - FA Cup
Vs Tottenham (H) - Sun 15 March (4:30pm) - Premier League
On paper, Liverpool’s run is the easiest, with them facing teams who all could be involved in the relegation fight at the end of the season. Two away games back-to-back against Wolves are a quirk of the fixture list following the FA Cup draw.
