Chelsea next manager LIVE - Liam Rosenior update, Gary O'Neil eyed, Jamie Carragher verdict

Chelsea are still searching for a head coach to replace Enzo Maresca. The Blues confirmed on New Year's Day that they have parted company with the Italian after just over 18 months in charge.

Maresca, 41, who was appointed in June 2024 to replace Mauricio Pochettino, guided the west London club to a top-four finish, the Conference League and the Club World Cup during his first season at the helm.

Although the Blues have shown signs of progress in 2025/26, their form was patchy towards the end of last year and a decision was made to axe the former Leicester City boss despite winning 55 of his 92 matches in situ.

Calum McFarlane was put in interim charge for Sunday's trip to Manchester City as the club continue to work on a replacement for Maresca. But it appears that Strasbourg's Liam Rosenior is the man that Chelsea's board want.

Rosenior, 41, has managed 153 matches during his short managerial career so far, starting off at Derby County before moving to Hull City and then Strasbourg, Chelsea's sister club, last summer.
