Liam Rosenior has been warned he is opening himself up to ridicule with his press conference comments
Former Premier League star Ben Foster thinks Chelsea's players will be laughing at Liam Rosenior behind his back following his recent comments to the press.
The Blues manager raised eyebrows after the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge last weekend, where Chelsea dropped points to Burnley. Following the stalemate, Rosenior highlighted a failed "marking assignment" from an unnamed defender as the cause for Zian Flemming's goal for the Clarets.
Speaking on his Fozcast podcast, former Manchester United and Wrexham shot-stopper Foster didn't hold back, suggesting that Rosenior's tactical jargon is already becoming meme fodder for the squad. Foster believes that by calling out his players in such a specific, technical way, the manager has essentially handed them a punchline to use against him behind closed doors.
Reacting to the comments, he said: "Two words for you, woke nonsense. I've never heard a manager say to me an assignment was missed, or talk to the lads and say an assignment was missed. You can't talk like that.
"A hundred per cent, they'll be sharing memes. They'll have a few little mini group chats between them, not a whole team group, because you don't do it on the big main one. You'll have a few whisperers. There will be three or four little cliques.

"You'll have the Spanish group and then you'll have the English lads. They'll have like, five or six players in each one of them, and every one of them will be rattling these memes in. I promise you they will."
A number of Rosenior's past philosophical musings have resurfaced since his high-profile switch to Stamford Bridge in January. They include a clip from a documentary filmed during his stint at Strasbourg showing the coach attempting to get deep about the nature of his job.
Explaining his outlook, Rosenior said: "In English, 'manage', if you split the two words, it's 'man' and 'age', so you're ageing men. Am I a manager or a coach? Both. Coaching is educating."
The bizarre comments earned him a comparison to one of TV's most famous cringe-inducing bosses. Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker couldn't help but liken the Blues boss to The Office character David Brent.
Lineker told co-hosts Micah Richards and Alan Shearer: "I'm quite enjoying Liam Rosenior's slightly David Brent moments. Did you see the stuff about managing, and it's 'man' and 'age' and we are 'ageing men'?"
As Richards burst into laughter, Lineker noted that while other top managers use similar eccentric methods, Rosenior's public delivery is what stands out.
He added: "Mikel Arteta does similar things, but inside the dressing room. The lightbulb, for example. It amuses me that stuff, that it might make a difference."
