Chelsea predicted XI vs Lincoln - Enzo Maresca forced into tough Garnacho and Acheampong decision

Chelsea are looking to avoid a huge upset this evening as the Blues travel to the north east to face Lincoln City in the third round of this season's Carabao Cup.

In Enzo Maresca's first season with the club, Chelsea went out of the competition at the last 16 stage and the Italian will be hoping for a better showing from his squad this time around. That said, the Blues head coach is expected to rotate heavily tonight and hand some of his crucial players a rest at the LNER Stadium.

Cole Palmer probably would not have been involved anyway, but the 23-year-old is now a doubt after coming off with a groin injury in the defeat to Manchester United at the weekend. Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro have not been 100% fit since returning from the international break, with the trip to Lincoln seemingly the perfect time - if any - to rest the South American duo.

Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile are progressing well as they close in on their respective returns. However, tonight's clash in Lincoln comes too soon for both.
