Joao Pedro's hat-trick inspired the Blues to a crucial three points at Villa Park. It was the worst possible start for the visitors with Douglas Luiz flicking in beyond Filip Jorgensen with just two minutes on the clock.
However, Joao Pedro equalised from close range after being found by Malo Gusto's low cross not too long after. The Brazil international then bagged again just before the half-time whistle with a delicate chip over Emi Martinez.
