Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League to see their Champions League qualification hopes dented

Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League were handed a blow after their defeat to Manchester United. The Blues suffered a 1-0 loss to the Red Devils in the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.

Matheus Cunha scored the only goal of the game for the visitors to leave Chelsea with an uphill task of finishing in the top five in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea remain in sixth place in the table but are four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, who now have a game in hand which will see them face Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Liam Rosenior’s side are also now level on points with Brentford and Bournemouth, who are seventh and eighth, respectively, following their results on Saturday.

Chelsea have a busy end to the season with an FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United ahead, as well as five more Premier League fixtures as the battle for Champions League qualification intensifies.
