Chelsea have five senior players out on loan this season, with those young stars looking to impress head coach Enzo Maresca before the club make a decision on their future in the summer
While Enzo Maresca's focus will be on getting ready for the trip to Burnley at the weekend, behind the scenes at Chelsea there will be time to reflect on how the seven loanees are faring this season.
The Blues offloaded five players - that you would consider being in and around the senior squad - out on loan in the summer transfer window, with the majority of them looking to impress Maresca elsewhere, while some of them are looking to leave the club for good in the near future. Maresca himself will not have too much time on his hands to analyse how said players are doing, but senior officials at Stamford Bridge will be in regular dialogue with the Chelsea head coach.
So, with all of this being said, football.london takes a close look at how the Blues players - who cost the club a total of £91million in transfer fees - are doing so far this season in our loan round-up...
Nicolas Jackson (Bayern Munich)
It has been a frustrating loan for Jackson thus far. The 24-year-old striker joined Bayern Munich in the summer after making the decision to explore his options away from Chelsea following the double signing of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. So far, though, there has not been too much in the way of regular football for Jackson.
It was always going to be difficult to move to Munich and displace Harry Kane, who is incidentally one of the most in-form strikers on the planet at the time of writing, and so that has proved. Jackson has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Bayern so far, but only five of them have come from the start under Vincent Kompany.
Jackson has a respectable three goals and one assist in that time - a record not to be sniffed at given he has just over 400 minutes on the pitch. While it is frustrating for Jackson, he was desperate to complete the move to the Allianz Arena and will now have to keep trying his best to make an impression under Kompany.
Mamadou Sarr (Strasbourg)
Sarr returned to Strasbourg on loan in the summer after signing for Chelsea and it is no surprise to see the defender be a regular under Liam Rosenior once again. A few niggling injury problems have disrupted the 20-year-old's start to the season but for the most part, he has been a key figure in the defence for the Ligue 1 side.
The Blues loanee has made 11 appearances this term in all competitions and has helped Chelsea's sister club keep six clean sheets in that time. Sarr has big aspirations at Stamford Bridge and will be hoping to continue his fine form for the remainder of the season before the Blues make a decision over his future next summer.
Mike Penders (Strasbourg)
Penders has been part of the Strasbourg defence with Sarr at the start of the season. The 20-year-old goalkeeper has been Rosenior's undisputed No.1 at the start of the campaign - playing in all but one match for the French club.
Chelsea believe Penders has the potential to be their No.1 goalkeeper in the future, football.london understands, so there will be more than one eye on what the Belgian can do this term.

Kendry Paez (Strasbourg)
Paez is another young player Chelsea have huge hopes for in the future. The 18-year-old Ecuadorian, however, has had a bit of a frustrating start to life in Strasbourg with just five starts to his name in all competitions.
The teenager has just over 500 minutes under his belt in all competitions with Rosenior tending to prefer other attacking options. Chelsea would have liked Paez to have a similar impact at Strasbourg to Andrey Santos last season, but so far his game time has been limited. However, there is still plenty of football left to play this term and Paez will be hoping to show Strasbourg supporters the true version of himself in that time.
Aaron Anselmino (Borussia Dortmund)
Injuries have disrupted Anselmino's start to life at Signal Iduna Park. The 20-year-old defender has just five appearances to his name in all competitions; making his comeback from a muscular problem towards the end of last month against Copenhagen in the Champions League.
Anselmino will be hoping to win his place in the side under Niko Kovac as he looks for regular first-team football ahead of a potential return to Stamford Bridge next summer.
