Chelsea's transfer stance on Cole Palmer clear after Bruno Fernandes comment

Cole Palmer scored a hat-trick for Chelsea in their win over Wolves on Saturday afternoon and Bruno Fernandes left a comment under the England international's Instagram post

It surprised many that Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes left a comment on Cole Palmer's Instagram post on Saturday. After the Chelsea star netted a hat-trick in their 3-1 victory over Wolves, Palmer posted a photo of him doing his trademark 'cold' celebration with the caption "just enjoy".

Fernandes commented: "What a player", alongside a clapping emoji. Because of speculation linking Palmer with a move to Man United in recent weeks, it left some supporters of the Manchester club lapping it up. "Agent Bruno", or something similar, was left on the post by some United fans.

However, sources close to Chelsea have told football.london in recent weeks that Palmer is viewed as virtually untouchable. Unsurprisingly, the 23-year-old is an enormous part of the club's long-term plans and they do not believe he is unsettled in west London.

Palmer said as much during his post-match interview following his hat-trick at Molineux. The England international said: "Everyone loves to chat s***, don't they? I don't pay attention to it. You see things, but I come from a strong place anyway, but I don't pay attention to it."

For Liam Rosenior, speculation over Palmer's future is barely a topic of conversation. Speaking last month, Rosenior said this on Palmer: "It's simple, Cole's an incredible player. The guy sitting next to me [Moises Caicedo], I've seen many players in the group [who are incredible].

"I'm not surprised at the timing. A new manager comes in and all of a sudden there's people unsettled. It's not true. Cole's here, he's very happy and I can't wait to see him back on the pitch."

He added: "There's no reason for assurance [from the sporting directors]. It's so unrealistic. It's come from nowhere. There's nothing in it. There's no reason to have the conversation. That's where I'm at. Cole is very happy.

"I've had numerous conversations with him. Our thoughts are on how we can make this team better, how he can improve and how I can help him. He loves being here and he wants to be a Chelsea player. You can't stop speculation, but some speculation is so far from the truth. There's no point in having a discussion about it."
