Chelsea set for Estevao Willian injury boost in 15-player update

The international break is now upon us and it might well have come at a fantastic time for Chelsea given Liam Rosenior's Blues have lost four matches on the bounce

The feeling going into the international break is extremely glum from a Chelsea point of view. A run of four defeats in the space of 10 days, capped off by the worst of them all against Everton on Saturday evening, leaves Liam Rosenior with a multitude of problems to try and solve.

There is a school of thought that the international break has come at a good time for Chelsea, with their rot at least temporarily brought to a halt. Rosenior and his backroom staff will get a couple of weeks to work at the club's training centre in Cobham and the head coach believes it could be an effective time to analyse a few things.

Speaking to BBC 5Live following the defeat to Everton, Rosenior said: "Our staff will be working throughout the international break where we will have more time to analyse instead of jumping from game-to-game which we can do with less emotion and sit down and talk as a staff about how we improve.

"The reality is some of our players won't come back until the Thursday or the Friday before Port Vale."

For a lot of Chelsea's players, there is no rest. The South Americans are usually the worst affected given the travel they have to do during these breaks. Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos are both in the Brazil squad for their upcoming matches against France and Croatia, though neither of those fixtures are being played in South America.

Instead, the France game is in Massachusetts and the clash with Croatia is in Orlando. Estevao Willian has not been named in Carlo Ancelotti's squad, likely down to the Chelsea winger being injured over the last few weeks. Estevao made his return to action on Saturday evening, coming on in the second half of the Blues' defeat at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Enzo Fernandez has been named in the Argentina squad for their upcoming friendly against Guatemala in Buenos Aires. The World Cup winners were due to play the 'Finalissima' against Spain but that was cancelled, so a last-minute friendly against Guatemala on March 31 has been arranged. Alejandro Garnacho has not been included in the squad and will remain at Cobham for the next couple of weeks.

Moises Caicedo is in the Ecuador squad for fixtures against Morocco and Netherlands. The good news is that the Chelsea midfielder will not have to travel too far, with the matches being played in Spain and Holland, respectively.

Marc Cucurella has been named in the Spain squad for matches against Serbia and Egypt. Robert Sanchez, though, has not been included in Luis de la Fuente's squad.

Filip Jorgensen had surgery last week on a groin issue and has not been called up to the Denmark squad this time around. Levi Colwill is still working on his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, with Chelsea hopeful he will return before the end of the season, and will not represent England. Likewise, Trevoh Chalobah will work on his recovery from a foot problem he suffered in last week's defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Wesley Fofana has not been selected for France but his Chelsea colleague Malo Gusto is on the list. Les Bleus are doing their camp in the United States, taking on Brazil in Massachusetts and then Colombia in Maryland a few days later.

Mamadou Sarr will represent Senegal for their upcoming friendlies against Peru and Gambia. However, Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile will both remain at Cobham during the break.

Jorrel Hato's recent form has been rewarded, with the 20-year-old included in the Netherlands' squad for friendlies against Norway and Ecuador, both being played in Holland.

Reece James will work on his recovery from a hamstring injury during the break, with the Chelsea captain expected to be out of action for multiple weeks with his latest problem. Josh Acheampong, meanwhile, will play for England Under-21s as they take on Andorra and Moldova.

Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo will spend the next couple of weeks in Cobham, which is good news for Rosenior given the midfield duo have only recently returned from long-term injuries.

Cole Palmer will link up with Thomas Tuchel's England squad for friendlies with Uruguay and Japan, both being played at Wembley, while Jamie Gittens will spend the next couple of weeks recovering from a muscular injury. Liam Delap will also be working at Cobham.

Pedro Neto is in the Portugal squad for their matches against Mexico and USA. The match against Mexico takes place in Mexico City and the USA clash is in Atlanta. Marc Guiu, meanwhile, is set to stay in Cobham.

Chelsea players not selected for international duty: Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, Reece James, Dario Essugo, Romeo Lavia, Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens, Estevao Willian, Liam Delap, Marc Guiu
