Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg have suspended Emmanuel Emegha, who is set to join the Blues next summer. The 22-year-old was disciplined for misconduct, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

On Wednesday, Strasbourg took to X to release a statement about Emegha's suspension for their next Ligue 1 match against Toulouse, saying: "This decision was taken following the player's recent failure to respect the club's values, expectations and rules.

"Racing reaffirms its commitment to the essential principles of exemplary conduct and respect for the collective framework. Emmanuel remains an important member of our team, who has always given his all for the club on the pitch.

"He will be reintegrated into the squad after this match. No further comments will be made."

football.london understands that his suspension is regarding recent comments made by the striker after saying he thought Strasbourg was in Germany before signing, which didn't go down well internally.

This is not the first time the forward has been in the spotlight. It's said that the announcement of his transfer to Chelsea in September did not go down well with supporters, especially after he said: "It's the best thing for my career: I want to go as far as possible, play in the Champions League, the World Cup.

"I could have signed with clubs participating in the Champions League this summer, but the overall project of Strasbourg and Chelsea appealed to me.

"Now, I want to lead Racing in Europe. With this group, we've started something amazing, and I wanted to see it through. I'm going to give everything for the club this season. I also spoke to the coach, and his opinion was important to me."

His justification did not sit well with the fans, who voiced their displeasure to the club. Foot Mercato noted that a banner was displayed, reading: "After changing jerseys, give back your captain's armband."

Emegha was handed the armband in the summer following the departure of Habib Diarra to Sunderland. Emegha is set to arrive at Stamford Bridge next summer, to fight for a No.9 spot alongside Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. The Blues agreed a deal back in September.
