Cole Palmer snubs Chelsea stars and picks forgotten Man Utd ace in dream 5-a-side team

2 hours ago 3

Cole Palmer has chosen Manchester United academy graduate Ravel Morrison for his dream 5-a-side team over any Chelsea team-mates.

Both players are from Wythenshawe in Manchester, although there is nearly a decade between them in age.

Palmer was known to be a United supporter during his younger years, around the time when Morrison was making his breakthrough.

Despite never playing together or against each other professionally, the pair appear to be friends. Upon revealing his choice, Palmer could not suppress a grin.

The two follow each other on social media platforms, with Morrison even celebrating his first England call-up in November 2023.

In response to the squad announcement, Morrison posted: "Told him he's in the next England squad, he didn't think I was being serious! Congratulations, bro, truly deserved!"

When asked by Chelsea for his fantasy 5-a-side team in a YouTube Short, Palmer also included himself.

Initially, he chose a goalkeeper and selected Thibaut Courtois, despite never having played alongside the Belgian keeper at Chelsea.

However, he has had ample opportunity to watch the shot-stopper in action. These opportunities came while he was part of Manchester City's matchday squad during their Champions League knockout stage clashes with Real Madrid between 2020 and 2023.

The first outfield player chosen was Lionel Messi, who faced City while Palmer was still at the club.

He played for Paris Saint-Germain during the group stages in November 2021, with the academy graduate remaining on the bench.

Neymar, who also featured in that match, was Palmer's subsequent selection. However, neither he nor Messi managed to find the back of the net in PSG's only goal of that game.

Instead, it was Kylian Mbappe who opened the scoring. City then staged an impressive comeback as Raheem Sterling equalised before Gabriel Jesus sealed their victory.
