Cristhian Mosquera to Arsenal transfer latest as financial package set after two bids

7 hours ago 43

Valencia are growing confident that they can keep Arsenal target Cristhian Mosquera this summer. The Gunners are in the market for another centre-back and have shown real determination to sign the 21-year-old.

Mosquera impressed for Valencia during the 2024/25 campaign, helping them move into a comfortable mid-table position following a difficult start. Carlos Corberan's side are aware of his worth, with a £77.5million release clause inserted into his contract, and Arsenal, alongside AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, are tracking his progress.

Despite interest increasing, the Gunners have been the quickest off the mark, with Arteta said to be buoyed by Mosquera's rumoured indication that he is keen to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.

Reports have emerged that Arsenal have seen two offers rejected, with Mosquera since turning down the chance to extend his contract beyond 2026. Valencia are willing to be pragmatic over the situation and won't stand in Mosquera's path if he pushes to leave, as they don't want to lose him for free next summer.

According to the Daily Mirror, Valencia will demand around £21.5m to sanction Mosquera's departure, but that is above Arsenal's valuation - believed to be between £12.9m and £17.2m - of the defender.

Andrea Berta is the main figure in talks but Valencia are prepared to drag a potential deal out until August if there is a chance to keep him. Further sales at Valencia could also prove to be a block for Arsenal.

Yarek Gasiorowski's future continues to be the centre of transfer speculation after he was linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain following their Champions League triumph. But, according to reports, the 20-year-old defender is closing in on a move to PSV instead in a move worth around £8.2m.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are keen to get a new No.9 sealed and over the line. Viktor Gyokeres has agreed personal terms on a move to the Emirates Stadium and the Gunners are 'advancing' to get a deal agreed with Sporting CP.

The Swede scored 54 goals and added 13 assists in 52 appearances last season. He would add dynamism and another goalscoring threat to Arsenal's attack.

The Gunners may have scored the third-most goals in the Premier League last season (69), but they failed to have a single player register double figures in the top flight. Their lack of firepower in attack became a problem as the campaign progressed, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus suffering serious injuries in the winter, leaving Mikel Merino as the makeshift No.9.

But the Gunners are determined to strengthen their forward line and get one over the line for next season, with Gyokeres targeted after another excellent season in Portugal at Sporting.
