Didi Hamann believes Mohamed Salah might be able to appease Cristiano Ronaldo if he makes the move to Al-Nassr in the summer.

Although Salah has returned to the Liverpool line-up following his outburst against the club in December, speculation continues over his future amid what has been a disappointing season by the Egyptian’s usual standards.

Rumors of a move to Saudi Arabia have inevitably begun to spring up again, with Salah having been linked with a move to the Middle East for years now. A potential move to the Pro League though could also have a big effect on Ronaldo’s future.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is reported to have gone on strike at Al-Nassr, having not featured in the club’s last three games, although he has been seen in training this week.

Ronaldo is said to be unhappy with the Saudi Public Investment Fund for failing to invest in Al-Nassr during the recent transfer window, while league leader Al Hilal made the signing of Karim Benzema.

Speculation has grown that Ronaldo could therefore leave Saudi Arabia, although former Liverpool midfielder Hamann thinks Salah joining Al-Nassr might be able to keep him happy.

“It’s a bizarre situation for Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi, it seems as though he may have gone on strike because of the transfer situation at Al Nassr,” Hamann told Thunderpick.

“It will be interesting to see how it pans out, but one way to appease him might be by agreeing to sign Mohamed Salah in the summer, it might be the perfect situation for him.”

Hamann though is not all that convinced that Salah will be heading to Saudi Arabia this summer. Instead, he feels a return to Italy could be an option.

"If you look at Inter, if you look at other clubs, they've got managers who are older than the ones in other countries. They've got the players, if you look at Inter. And obviously, he had a spell at Roma, so he's been there before.

"Maybe he's got unfinished business in Serie A. And there are some brilliant clubs. If you look at Roma, they haven't really been on the map in the last few years. What a wonderful story that would be if he went back to Roma.

"Then obviously with the Milan clubs, you always have a chance in the league. They've both done well in the Champions League in recent years.

"I wouldn't say Saudi is the only destination. It's probably the most likely one, but I think there will be one or two clubs who will be sniffing once they hear that he might go and Italy might just be perfect."
