Manchester United return to Premier League action this week as they get ready to meet their cross-city rivals in the Manchester derby.

Ruben Amorim's squad will make the short trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. United go into the contest on the back of a dramatic 3-2 victory over Burnley last month, before the season's first international break.

Amorim is also being forced to deal with several injury concerns in the early weeks of the new Premier League season. It remains to be seen how many players, if any, will be on the side-lines when they face City on Sunday.

Here, we round up their latest fitness concerns;

Matheus Cunha

Matheus Cunha suffered a hamstring injury during United's win over Burnley at Old Trafford before the international break.

It's still unclear the severity of the injury, with Cunha withdrawing from the Brazil squad for the World Cup qualifiers this month as a result.

Cunha has since provided hints on social media that a recovery from the injury may not take as long as first feared.

"What an incredible environment, it’s great to be here," Cunha wrote on Instagram last week.

"I'll be back soon, always with joy and gratitude. Thanks for all the messages."

Potential return date: September 14 vs Man City (A)

Mason Mount

Mason Mount also suffered an injury during United's win over Burnley last month at Old Trafford.

Amorim confirmed after the game that Mount played for 30 minutes of the contest with the injury before being substituted.

"It was hard to lose a player like Cunha and Mason Mount - Mount played like 30 minutes with an injury," said the head coach after the win over the Clarets on August 30.

"I don't know [if they are long-term injuries], I don't know, but I'm concerned about that.

"They are so important for us, so we'll see."

Potential return date: September 14 vs Man City (A)

Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez has been recovering from an ACL injury that he suffered last season, having undergone surgery on the injury back in February.

Since then, the Argentina international has been stepping up his recovery and has returned to training. A return to the matchday squad may not be too far away.

Return date: Unknown
