Curtis Jones 'beyond angry' as Liverpool star issues X-rated verdict on PSV defeat

4 hours ago 31

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones bluntly admitted that his side's performances lately have not been acceptable after the Reds lost 4-1 at Anfield against PSV in the Champions League.

Having lost by three goals for a third game in a row in all competitions, Arne Slot's men are in an almost unprecedented spell. Liverpool won the Premier League title last season but is now in a worrying downward spiral.

"I don't have the answers," Jones said. "I'm the same as everybody else. Just unacceptable to be honest. I don't even have the words. It's beyond the point of being angry. I'm just lost for words.

"It's hard to find the words. I'm a player and a fan and I've not seen it like this for a long, long time.

"I haven't experienced a team playing this bad. But at the end of the day, we have still got that badge on our chest.

"Until that badge goes, we are always going to fight and try and get the team back to where it needs to be, showing the whole world why Liverpool is the best team in the world.

"As of now, we're in the s**t and it needs to change."

Jones was fielded at right-back with Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong injured. Dominik Szoboszlai was back in midfield and looked good, but he was one of few positives.

"It’s not been the only rough night, has it?" Jamie Carragher said on CBS Sports. "I mean this has been like this all season.

"I think we said after the first game of the Champions League group stage that the result had been coming for Liverpool. I think they lost away at Galatasaray.

“Liverpool don’t notoriously, or historically I should say, change managers, especially ones who won a league title. I don’t think Liverpool have ever changed a manager in their history who won a league title.

"But I think there will be a lot of supporters tonight thinking, you know, is it at that stage, yeah?

"And you just cannot believe you’re saying something like that when you consider what happened in the manager’s first season, which was absolutely out of this world.”
