Danny Murphy has been mightily impressed by a few Tottenham players, and he has made an interesting comment about the Lilywhites after they dropped two points against Brighton.
Thomas Frank felt Tottenham’s performance against Brighton was their most complete display of the season so far, and it is not hard to understand why.
Although the Dane would not have liked the goals his side conceded in the first half, he saw Spurs click in attack and put the home side under pressure, which they have not done consistently so far this season.
Joao Palhinha has said that Tottenham deserved to win against Brighton, and Murphy agrees with the Portuguese star’s assessment.
Danny Murphy praises Tottenham man who caused all ‘sorts of problems’
The former Spurs midfielder admitted that he was very impressed with Mohammed Kudus, pointing out that he caused the Seagulls’ backline problems throughout the game.
The pundit pointed out that Tottenham managed to create a lot of chances while also managing to limit Brighton’s counter-attacks, asserting that Frank’s men deserved to win the game.
Speaking about Tottenham’s draw with Brighton, Murphy said on Match of the Day (on 20 September): “I have to say this team is so fit, so well organised. Kudus is outstanding again, causing all sorts of problems.
“(Xavi) Simons came off the bench, made a difference. They just kept going and they really limited Brighton to very few chances, which is very difficult to do when you’re throwing men forward and trying to get back in the game.
“(Joao) Palhinha doing what I’m talking about, the hard yards, breaking up play. Again, players taking responsibility to run at people, to beat players, to try and make passes that are progressive and forward-thinking.
“In the end, they got their rewards, and I think on their performance, they deserved the win, to be honest.”
Frank reveals what has impressed him the most about Kudus
Kudus set up both of Tottenham’s goals against Brighton, taking his tally of assists this season to four in five Premier League matches.
Thomas Frank lavished praise on Kudus, pointing out that it is almost impossible to get the ball off the Ghanaian.
Not only did the Spurs boss talk up the 25-year-old’s ability to go past players, but he pointed out that the winger’s ability to hold up the ball is a huge plus for his side.
