Dele Alli’s career takes another twist as Tottenham icon could leave Europe

Dele Alli has not had the expected impact at Como, and it has now been suggested that the former Tottenham fan favourite is open to a move elsewhere this summer.

Dele remains revered by the Spurs faithful, with the attacking midfielder giving them some great memories in his seven years at the club after joining from MK Dons as a teenager in 2015.

Dele’s mental health issues have been well-documented, which is why many Spurs fans have been rooting for him to return to the pitch and get back to doing what he does best.

He is now trying to do that away from the spotlight of the Premier League, having joined Serie A side Como in January, but he managed to make just one appearance for the club last season.

Tottenham icon Dele Alli is now looking for a new club

According to a report in GZH, the former Tottenham Hotspur man is now looking for a new home, having failed to get his career back on track in the Italian top-flight.

It is asserted that the 29-year-old, who was once tipped to be the next big thing in English football, is now ready to leave Europe altogether and head to Brazil.

The report claims that Gremio have now been offered a chance to sign Dele after he struggled to recapture his form at Como.

The Brazilian side would not have to pay a transfer fee for the England international, but his wage demands are thought to be very high.

Will Gremio take up the chance to sign Dele?

GZH say that while the opportunity to sign a player of the former Tottenham star’s pedigree is tempting for Gremio, they are not inclined to pursue the move.

This is because the attacking midfielder’s salary demands would make him a risky signing, especially given some of the other gambles that the club have taken over recent years.

Gremio are said to be reluctant to take further risks on players with uncertain ‘physical and competitive conditions’ such as Dele.
