Dominic Solanke has sent a message to the Tottenham Hotspur faithful after finally completing his long-awaited comeback in the FA Cup clash against Aston Villa.

It was yet another disappointing night for the Lilywhites, who were knocked out of the FA Cup for the first time of asking by the Villans, who emerged 2-1 winners.

One of the few positives on the night for Spurs was the return of Solanke, who has been out of action since the first two games of the campaign.

The England international’s recovery from his ankle surgery in September has been pushed back repeatedly, but he finally returned to the pitch on Saturday, replacing Wilson Odobert at 83 minutes.

The fact that the centre-forward was only handed seven minutes plus stoppage time by Thomas Frank, even though Spurs were trailing, suggests that he is still far from being 100 per cent fit.

However, his return to competitive action was undoubtedly a huge milestone for the 28-year-old, who took to social media to express his delight and thank the fans for their reception.

Solanke wrote on Instagram: “Six months later, I’m finally back where I belong, playing freely. Thank you for your reception today, and I can’t wait to get back out there already.”

Given the issues Tottenham have had upfront, there is no doubt that Solanke’s return comes as a big boost to the North Londoners.

However, given that the former Bournemouth man has had nearly five months on the sidelines, he will likely need a few more weeks to get fully upto speed.

With Richarlison being the latest Spurs player to fall victim to injury on Saturday, Frank will have to rely on Randal Kolo Muani to lead the line for the upcoming fixtures.
