Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai scored another free-kick this weekend and the Hungarian is within touching distance of a Premier League record set by David Beckham

Dominik Szoboszlai has scored four direct free-kick goals in the Premier League this season, which is the most ever by a Liverpool player in a single campaign in the competition.
In fact, only David Beckham (in 2000/01 for Manchester United) and Laurent Robert (in 2001/02 for Newcastle) have netted more in a single season (they both got five).
James Ward-Prowse has reached four in two previous seasons — 2020/21 and 2021/22 — so Szoboszlai is level with him, and needs just one more to match the Beckham and Robert record. He has eight more games remaining to score via that route again.

"I don’t know what happened, I have nothing to say," Szoboszlai said live on Sky Sports post-match. "In the last minute, again [we conceded], I don’t know how many times this season already. We have to wake up.
"We have to wake up because there’s eight, nine games to go, and if we keep going like this, next season we should be happy with the Conference League.

"I don’t know [why it keeps happening]. If I would have the answer then I probably tell you guys and we will change it. But, honestly, I don’t know."
It is now eight times that Liverpool has conceded in stoppage time in the Premier League this season. Those points could prove costly in the race for the Champions League places.
"Of course it's damaging," Arne Slot admitted. "But it's how many times this has been damaging for us. We don't help ourselves at all.
"It's so many times this season that we've created much more xG or chances than the amount of goals we score.

"Usually in the Premier League you see a lot of teams outperforming their xG, but that definitely is [not] what we are doing throughout the whole season.
"Then a game still stays tight until the end and we struggle to keep clean sheets. We haven't had as many clean sheets as you would want if you want to go higher up in the table. That's a bad combination for picking up the amount of points we want to pick up."
Liverpool.com says: Szoboszlai has been the Reds' best player this season, but his influence is lessened by being at right-back. He scored against Spurs, but wasn't as involved as he would have been in the center.
