Dominik Szoboszlai stood by the red card decision that marred an evening of disappointment for the Liverpool midfielder and teammate Milos Kerkez.
Szoboszlai, who has recently been playing at right-back for Liverpool, captained Hungary in the team's thrilling 2-2 World Cup qualifying stalemate against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.
Hungary surged to a commanding two-goal advantage with the Reds star delivering an assist for Roland Sallai's second strike via a corner kick, before witnessing the hosts mount a comeback through Swansea's Adam Idah with a stoppage-time leveller. The away side battled through over thirty minutes a man down following Sallai's straight red card for a reckless tackle on Dara O'Shea.
Szoboszlai commented: "I hope everyone has learned, so you can't react to any move against us.
"However, I have to defend Sala (Roland Sallai), he would never intentionally harm anyone, and he didn't want to now either.
"However, if this is red, the first Irish goal should also be watched."
Szoboszlai received a yellow card during the opening period of a heated clash in which Kerkez was withdrawn with 10 minutes left on the clock.
The Liverpool midfielder continued: "I am also proud that we were able to fight like this for 50 minutes with a man deficit.
"The first half was a dream start.
"If we had kept it up, the whole match would have been like this.
"There will be matches where a point will be worth gold."
Elsewhere, Rio Ngumoha delivered another impactful cameo appearance to assist England's U19s in securing a 3-3 stalemate with Spain in Murcia.
Ngumoha came on for the last quarter and set up a goal for Everton's young talent, Harrison Armstrong, in the 87th minute of a match where fellow Liverpool youngster Trey Nyoni played the first 69 minutes.
Wataru Endo also saw action overnight, playing the entire match as Japan, a team that has already secured its World Cup spot, held Mexico to a goalless draw in a friendly match in Oakland, United States.
