Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has long wanted to play for Real Madrid, according to the Hungary manager Marco Rossi, with talks underway with the Reds man about extending his contract at Anfield.
Szoboszlai has long been an admirer of Cristiano Ronaldo, whose best years came at the Bernabeu. His Liverpool contract runs until 2028, and he confirmed last month that his representatives have held talks with the Reds' hierarchy about extending those terms.
"Real Madrid has always been his dream," Rossi is quoted as saying by the Spanish outlet MARCA. The national team boss says he knows because of the "very close and direct relationship" that he has with the 25-year-old.

"He's a very important player for Liverpool. And Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world."
Szoboszlai has arguably been Liverpool's best player this season. He has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in all competitions.

The former RB Leipzig ace could come back into the starting XI against Brighton in the FA Cup after serving a one-match ban at Sunderland midweek after being sent off against Manchester City.
"There is always progress, but no decision has been made, and I'll just keep on going every week, every training, giving my best for the team, for the fans," Szoboszlai said last month when asked about his contract negotiations.
"Let's see what is going to happen in the future. There are always talks.
"You guys in the media make a lot for the [public] and you keep on going because that's your job. But there has been talks, but for sure not any decision has been made.

"Of course, I am happy here, but you know how football works and that is something everybody has to take into account."
Liverpool lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid last summer just before his contract was set to expire. French center-back Ibrahima Konate has also been linked with the Spanish team, with his deal running out in a few months as things stand.
Liverpool.com says: Szoboszlai has been very impressive this season. In a variety of positions, he has really stepped up. Tying him down to a contract extension needs to be a priority.
