Ebere Eze names Arsenal star who has impressed him the most since £60m transfer

Arsenal have enjoyed a stellar start to the season and summer signing Ebere Eze has been impressed by one teammate in particular

Ebere Eze has named the Arsenal star who has impressed him the most since his summer move from Crystal Palace - and his answer may come as a surprise to some.

The attacker has enjoyed a promising start to life in North London following his £60 million transfer back in August. This season, he has made 15 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners, scoring twice and registering three assists.

Mikel Arteta's side are currently top of the Premier League standings, boasting a four-point gap over nearest challengers Manchester City with 11 games played. This season, they will hope to end a more than 20-year wait for a league title, with several players in the squad having stepped up in the early months.

One player in particular has been a standout for Eze, and the name may be something of a shock given the star-studded team Arsenal have. Speaking on the Beast Mode On podcast, he reflected on his start to life at the club and praised the dressing-room culture.

"Everyone is sort of what you expect them to be," Eze explained. "The expectation of all the players is high.

"I'd say one player that's gone even beyond the high expectations I already had, because I'd already heard good things, is Jurrien Timber. He's a special player and a special guy.

"For me, you're in an environment of people and you have a culture that is geared towards improving. And these guys all want to improve.

"So for me it's a pleasure to be part of it. And to see guys like him, who perform the way they perform, carry themselves the way they carry themselves. It's inspiring, for sure."

Timber, 24, signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2023 from Ajax, where he had come through the youth ranks. However, in his first season at the club he sustained an ACL injury that kept him sidelined for almost the entire campaign.

Last term, the right-back established himself as a regular starter under Arteta and finally got his Arsenal career up and running. In total, he made 48 appearances across all competitions, scored two goals and registered four assists.

This season, however, Timber has arguably gone from strength to strength and is a vital cog in what is often described as an almost impenetrable defence. In his 16 appearances so far this term, the Dutchman has already matched his goal tally from the previous campaign, with a brace against Leeds United in the Premier League.

Arsenal return to action this weekend following the final international break of the year, in which Timber started both of the Netherlands' World Cup qualifiers against Poland and Lithuania. The Gunners take on bitter rivals Tottenham this weekend, followed by tricky tests against Bayern Munich and Chelsea next week.
