Eberechi Eze can still make Arsenal appearance vs Leeds despite transfer deadline missed

Eberechi Eze could be about to make his first appearance at Emirates Stadium officially as an Arsenal player. The 27-year-old has starred at the Gunners' home on a number of occasions, but that was during his time at Crystal Palace which now looks to be over.

"Ebs will not play for us anymore so it does not make sense to talk about him. It's gone," Palace head coach Oliver Glanser admitted after his side's 1-0 UEFA Conference League win over Fredrikstad.

"I thought he would play... he called me and said he didn’t feel well. You have to ask him (why), maybe in a few days. No (I don’t think he will play for the club again)." Despite what Glasner revealed was the reason for his absence, it was more than likely his imminent transfer to Arsenal was the deciding factor.

Mikel Arteta was also asked about Eze in his Friday press conference, and while the Arsenal boss offered a much more coy verdict, he did hint that something was on the way.

"Nothing to comment," he admitted on Eze. "I can never talk about any player that is not part of our group, our club yet, so no comment on that."

That looks set to change very soon however, with Eze undergoing his medical on Friday morning. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that all documents between the two parties have been signed with the deal, pending an official announcement, completed.

Exactly when that statement may arrive is unclear but it could very feasibly come between 5-7pm. That is when Arsenal will be facing Leeds United which makes an unveiling at Emirates Stadium potentially the perfect announcement.

Earlier this month, Manchester United paraded new signing Benjamin Sesko around Old Trafford during their pre-season friendly against Fiorentina. Even with everything sealed, Eze making his debut this evening has been ruled out.

The deadline to register him in Arteta's squad for this specific clash was 12pm on Friday and with that having passed, he would be ineligible. Even if Arsenal were able to confirm his arrival before that time, it is unlikely he would have featured having not trained once with his new teammates.

A debut arriving against Liverpool at Anfield is much more likely and that will be quite the baptism of fire for Arsenal's new signing. A start in that clash is hard to imagine however, but he is a great impact sub to have available.
