Eberechi Eze solves three major Arsenal problems as Andrea Berta plots marquee transfer move

7 hours ago 41

As Arsenal look to wrap up a deal for Noni Madueke and advance in talks to sign Viktor Gyokeres, the third piece of the attacking transfer puzzle is understood to be Eberechi Eze. The England international’s absence from the new Crystal Palace kit launch has only stoked the fires of excitement among Arsenal supporters.

Eze is understood by football.london to be keen on the move but Arsenal will look to try and bring Crystal Palace down on the £67.5million release clause inserted into his contract in south London. Doing so would help keep funds free for potential further business.

But Arsenal would be getting an incredible player in Eze and one who would fulfil many roles in the side. With that in mind, we take a look at the three problems Eze's arrival would solve at the club.

Martin Odegaard competition

Last season, Martin Odegaard endured a very difficult campaign following an ankle injury suffered on the international break. Unable to truly recover from the issue, whilst also suffering from illness in the mid-part of the campaign, the club captain came in for scrutiny.

Had Odegaard been allowed some rest by having players to support the position, he might've fared better. The arrival of Eze would of course solve this, and provide the depth and even competition to push Odegaard to his limits to keep his place.

Left wing predictability

Eze can also offer an option on the left-hand side which with both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli has been somewhat easy at times for teams to defend against. Stop the player cutting inside, show them onto their left and it's a job well done.

Eze, though, is not a natural winger and could play as an inside forward off the left giving some variation in the attack. His creativity would be key here and should Arsenal land Gyokeres, the idea of these two combining is certainly exciting.

Magic moments

Lastly is Eze's capacity to score from moments where it seems like the threat level is relatively low. His long-range strikes and darting last-minute runs are a nightmare for sides.

When you're not particularly playing well, having a player who can score from anywhere is so valuable. Arsenal have relied on Bukayo Saka for these moments, but having another star in Eze to produce them would be truly enthralling.
