Eberechi Eze to Arsenal transfer latest - Release clause truth, Crystal Palace demand

Arsenal are still interested in other attacking players this summer transfer window after signing Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres.

Anthony Gordon, Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo are among those, with the Crystal Palace playmaker understood to be the number one priority. The player has a well-documented £67.5million release clause in his contract, a deal signed in November 2023 and which runs until the summer of 2027.

However, after spending over £100million on Gyokeres and Madueke, the club's current focus is moving the likes of Albert Sambi Lokonga, Fabio Vieira and Karl Hein off their books.

Release clause reality

Eze's well-documented £67.5million release clause is claimed to expire before the Premier League season starts. However, that fee mirrors their valuation of Eze, and the clause's expiration is understood not to concern Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta believed to be a big fan of Eze.

It is believed Palace they want in the region of £35million up front in any deal - with the remaining £32.5million to come later. The Gunners, however, hope that stance softens over the coming weeks, with the player keen to move, and by then, there will be less time to sign a replacement with the fee they receive.

Glasner's public demand

Oliver Glasner hopes the club will not lose any players, but has far from ruled out the possibility. The Palace head coach spoke about the situation this summer to the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

"Even though all the players are still here, we haven't made the most of the transfer window so far," Glasner acknowledged. "I was promised that we would be more active, and bring in the new players earlier this year.

"As of now, I have 17 outfield players. I hope we don't lose any more. If that happens and we get four new ones on deadline day like last year, another false start is possible."
