Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly re-entered the race to sign Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze but a hurdle remains in their way to complete the deal.
Eze has attracted plenty of interest from north London this summer with Spurs and Arsenal both thought to be keen on the England international. football.london understands that the Gunners have held an interest in Eze throughout the summer window but, at present, see a move as being unlikely.
The focus for now is on outgoings as Mikel Arteta and co. look towards balancing the books. It is also believed the decision to reach new terms with Ethan Nwaneri has also impacted their eagerness to pursue a deal.
This has, of course, opened the door for Spurs. Tottenham are now eager to add an attacking midfielder to their squad following the serious injury that James Maddison sustained during pre-season.

Son Heung-min's exit to LAFC has also encouraged Tottenham to delve back into the transfer market. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are working on a deal for Eze that is separate to the move for Savinho.
Thomas Frank's team would like to add both men to their squad this summer but obstacles still lie in the way of doing just that. Our colleagues at the Manchester Evening News understand that Manchester City will not stand in the way of Savinho if he wants to leave for Spurs but they would require a substantial fee, more than £50 million, to consider the deal.
As for Eze, Romano reports that Palace hold the cards as his release clause of £68m expired on August 1. Therefore, it is at Oliver Glasner's discretion whether they accept a bid for the 27-year-old.
football.london understands the release clause expires before the Premier League season starts.
It is understood that Eze is keen on the move which would land him Champions League football this season. Palace discovered on Monday that they will drop into the Conference League this season.
"I want, how can I say this, a big enough, small enough squad," Frank said about his side's transfer business last week. "It needs to be big enough and robust enough to compete in all four tournaments, because that's important, but I can't have too many players.
"It's just so difficult to keep everyone happy, it's almost impossible. "Then, we also want to see if we can add enough quality.
'But we don't want to sign players we don't think can really improve the squad. "I would rather wait.
"I'm not here for the short-term fix. "I want to build something to last, so we need to think longer term.
"Yes, we need to compete now, but that's my thought process."
