Tottenham Hotspur appear to have rejoined Arsenal in the race to sign Eberechi Eze. The Crystal Palace star has been heavily linked with a move to north London this summer as Thomas Frank and Mikel Arteta look to bolster their attacking options.
Eze helped the Eagles get their hands on the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, defeating Liverpool 3-2 on penalties. It's the second piece of silverware that Oliver Glasner's side have lifted in just a couple of months after beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
The England international played a key role in each of the bouts, etching his name in the history books at Selhurst Park. His impressive performances haven't gone under the radar, attracting interest from some top Premier League clubs.
football.london understands that Eze has a release clause, which is worth £67.5m and expires before the start of the new Premier League season, in his contract at Selhurst Park. The 27-year-old's current deal in south London doesn't run out until June 2027.
So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up everything you need to know about Eze and his future.
Tottenham reignite Eze pursuit
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are back in talks to sign Eze – separate deal from their pursuit of Savinho. The report claims the Lilywhites wang to bolster Frank's options following Son Heung-min's exit and James Maddison's injury.
Arsenal remain interested in Eze
football.london understands that Eze has always preferred a move to the Emirates Stadium but, with Arsenal's focus elsewhere, the door has been left open for other clubs to swoop in. The Gunners view the Palace star as somebody who would bolster Arteta's options in the middle of the park, competing for minutes with Ethan Nwaneri and Martin Odegaard.
Any deal for Eze is believed to be separate from any potential exit of either Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, who face somewhat uncertain futures. That said, the north Londoners would look to move on Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Karl Hein in an effort to free up space on the wage bill and remain compliant with spending rules.
More on Eze's release clause and Arsenal interest
As aforementioned, Eze has a release clause, which is worth £67.5m and expires before the start of the new Premier League season, in his contract at Selhurst Park. football.london understands that Palace want at least £35m up front in any deal, but this would not change his total valuation.
Once Andrea Berta secured the signatures of Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera, he turned his attention to outgoings. That said, Arsenal remain interested in signing Eze, with Arteta believed to be a big fan.
Glasner provides Eze update
Oliver Glasner provided an update on Eze's future ahead of the Community Shield. Speaking to the Mirror the Palace boss said: "He will play on Sunday, definitely, and Marc [Guehi] as well – he will captain the team."
The Palace boss added: "Marc and I, we have the same fate, but I can't speak on behalf of Marc. In the end, it's always the player's decision, and Marc will decide his future.
"Of course, everybody wants Marc to sign a new contract, everybody who is connected to Crystal Palace at least. Everybody wants to keep the squad together because they did so well last season.
"But again, I don't know how often this happens here at Palace, keeping your top 15 to 16 players going into a new season when you've performed that well. That's also a great achievement for the club, but you never know what happens in this sometimes crazy transfer market."
