Nottingham Forest appear set to dismiss their head of global football, Edu, after instructing the former Arsenal sporting director to remain absent from the club's training facility. Edu has occupied the position for merely eight months, yet it has been a chaotic season for Forest both on and off the field.

This has included no fewer than four managers, with the well-regarded Nuno Espirito Santo ultimately being dismissed from his position as head coach following a disagreement with Edu just weeks after the Brazilian's appointment at The City Ground.

Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche have subsequently endured brief and disappointing tenures in the dugout, with the latter being dismissed last month after 114 days at the helm.

Vitor Pereira is the individual Forest's decision-makers have entrusted with securing the club's Premier League survival, with the Midlands side only avoiding the drop zone on goal difference with nine matches left to play.

The Telegraph reports that Edu's future is now in serious jeopardy, despite the club insisting he continues to fulfil his duties as usual.

The report suggests he has been instructed to avoid the club's training facility, with his departure from Forest now 'expected before the end of the season'.

Edu is also understood to have been requested to stay away from fixtures, with Wednesday night's 2-2 draw with Manchester City the third successive match he has been absent from.

Forest's acquisition of Edu was widely regarded as a significant coup, considering the acclaim he garnered during his tenure at Arsenal.

Under Mikel Arteta's leadership, the Gunners re-emerged as title contenders during Edu's time in the Premier League.

In November 2024, he announced his departure from the Gunners, citing the desire for a 'new challenge' as the reason behind his exit. He joined Forest in the subsequent summer.

Edu's responsibilities at Forest encompassed recruitment, squad strategy and player development, following the creation of a new role tailored for him.

Despite the club investing approximately £200million in the summer, their recruitment strategy has come under scrutiny due to the team's disappointing performance, with several players failing to meet expectations. Forest sit 17th in the table, level on 28 points with West Ham who are in the bottom three.
