England reach Euro 2025 final after dramatic extra-time semi-final win over Italy in Geneva

England reached the final of Euro 2025 after a dramatic 2-1 win over Italy in Geneva on Tuesday night.

The Lionesses found themselves a goal down at half-time as sloppy defending from Sarina Wiegman's side let Barbara Bonansea lash the ball home from close range. Alessia Russo had England's best chance of the opening 45 minutes with a low arrowed attempt which flashed just wide, but Italy were deservedly ahead at the break.

Wiegman's team began the second half with much more purpose as Beth Mead replaced Lauren James at the interval. In truth though, Italy goalkeeper Laura Giuliani was never really tested before a stunning stoppage-time equaliser from another substitute, Michelle Agyemang, forced her to pick the ball out of the net.

Neither side could then be separated for much of the 30 minutes of extra-time before the Lionesses were awarded a penalty late on. Chloe Kelly missed the resulting spot-kick, but followed in on the rebound to send England through to Sunday's final.
