Enzo Fernandez said 'we'll see' when asked about his Chelsea future following the Blues' Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain. The west London side were unable to turn around a 5-2 deficit at Stamford Bridge as they lost 3-0 at home to crash out of Europe.

And tasked with picking up his team to make a push to qualify for the Champions League once again, Liam Rosenior has now seen conversation turn to the future of one of his star players. Enzo Fernandez was signed for £106.8million as one of the early signings under the BlueCo ownership, but doubt now continues to be placed on the direction of the club and the Argentine's future could also come under scrutiny.

“I don’t know, there are eight games left and the FA Cup. There’s the World Cup and then we’ll see," Fernandez is reported to have said on ESPN Argentina.

Fernandez wore the captain's armband in Reece James' absence against PSG, and the World Cup winner has been integral to the Blues' successes this season. The 25-year-old has bagged 12 goals and provided six assists in 45 appearances this term.

The midfielder showed his frustrations to Filip Jorgensen's error in the first-leg defeat against PSG, but saw his head coach, Rosenior, liken his mentality to Roy Keane.

"As a player with passion, he wants to win. Roy Keane did that, probably," Rosenior said. "Roy Keane was my manager, but Roy Keane as a player probably did that 20 times a game. I want a team with a culture of accountability where we can demand from each other in the moment.

"Enzo loves Filip, Enzo wants the best for him, Enzo believes in him. In that moment he was frustrated with something that happened, and that's normal, isn't it?"

Fernandez helped Chelsea to Conference League and Club World Cup successes last summer but the Blues are struggling to improve upon that performance this season. They are currently fighting for Champions League qualification once again, with the only silverware on the table being the FA Cup, where Chelsea face Port Vale in the quarter-final.
