Manchester City injury news after the Premier League victory over Aston Villa

Manchester City are hopeful Erling Haaland will shake off the knock he received in colliding with the post late on in the weekend defeat by Aston Villa.

The Norwegian converted a low cross from Omar Marmoush, only for the flag to go up and the goal be ruled out, with Haaland clattering the frame of the goal in the process of scoring.

He was able to finish the contest and after the game Pep Guardiola said he was confident the frontman would not miss any matches, although he is likely to be left out of the squad for the midweek League Cup trip to Swansea City regardless of his fitness. Here's the injury latest ahead from the Etihad.

Erling Haaland

Injury: Knock

The Norwegian collided with the post at Villa Park having turned home Omar Marmoush's low cross before the goal was ruled out for offside. He got up gingerly and was able to finish the game, and Guardiola hopes that he will brush off the knock. The League Cup game with Swansea was likely pencilled in as a rest for Haaland anyway, meaning the priority will be making sure he is fine to take on Bournemouth in a week.

Potential return date: Bournemouth (H) November 2

Rodri

Injury: Hamstring

Rodri had hoped to be fit for the Premier League game with Everton earlier this month, having sat out international duty to try and recover from the hamstring injury that he felt in the opening minutes against Brentford earlier this month. The Spaniard did not think the issue was big at the time, but the Blues are having to be cautious with his return.

"It's not long, but it's muscular and you have to be careful," the City boss said. "We've tried so many times, we've tried to not take a risk, but we have not been able to do that. So we will see."

Potential return date: Swansea (A) October 29

Abdukodir Khusanov

Injury: Unknown

The Uzbekistan international had made the right back spot his own but he was forced off injured at half time in the draw with Arsenal and has yet to return to training.

Potential return date: Swansea (A) October 29

Rayan Ait-Nouri

Injury: Ankle

Ait-Nouri suffered an ankle injury in the early stages of his home debut against Tottenham and while he then featured subsequently against Brighton, he has not played for City since.

The Algerian has returned to training and Guardiola said the full back was feeling much better but he was not in the squad against Everton, didn't get off the bench against Villarreal and wasn't involved at Villa.
