The latest Chelsea injury news ahead of the Blues' Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, with updates on the likes of Estevao, Dario Essugo and Jamie Gittens

Chelsea just about scraped past Wrexham in the FA Cup, and Liam Rosenior could, after extra time, finally begin to think about their Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain. Competing on multiple fronts ensures that even selecting a team is not an easy decision for the Blues boss.

Joao Pedro and Alejandro Garnacho scored the goals that denied Ryan Reynolds' side a penalty shootout and a place in the last eight of the competition. And Rosenior will have been left with some food for thought after introducing some stars on their way back from injury.

His FA Cup selection firmly had managing fitness in mind. "We are going into a period of games where, for example, Romeo Lavia can be really important because he has to play minutes. We have to get him to speed," Rosenior said.

"Dario Essugo, we have to give him the time on the pitch. It's not just about your first 11 or your first 12 players to get us to where we want to be.

"The only way that our players and our squad are going to help us to achieve what I think is possible is for them to be sharp and ready."

With that said, football.london takes a look at Chelsea's current injury situation.

Levi Colwill

The England international remains out after suffering an ACL injury on the eve of the Premier League season. The defender underwent surgery for his injury in August and was expected to miss the season.

Colwill could return before the final whistle is blown in May but Rosenior has been cautious over his progress.

What Rosenior has said: “Yes, he could [be back before the end of the season] but it’s step by step and I don’t want to make promises that I can’t keep.

“At the moment, Levi’s in a really good place. He’s on the right track but I don’t want to put pressure on him.” (Jan 30)

"Levi is doing really, really well with his long-term rehab," Rosenior said at the end of February.

Possible return date: April/May.

Dario Essugo

The Portuguese midfielder made his first appearance of 2025/26 after making the Blues squad for the first time since August. Essugo underwent surgery for a thigh injury and is pleased to be back.

"Of course, it is a very good feeling because it was a very tough moment," Essugo said following his 55-minute outing. "At a new club, a new experience, but for me, it's very good to be back.

"Since the first day I got the injuries I had, I’ve had to wait but now I'm back and I feel very good."

Estevao Willian

The 18-year-old has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury. Speaking ahead of facing Wrexham, Rosenior revealed the Brazilian winger was stepping up his recovery but that the game would come too soon.

Rosenior said: “Estevao is back on the pitch, but he is not quite ready for this one. He just needs to clear a few more markers first, and we need to be careful with him given he’s had a hamstring injury. It will be a big boost to have him back with the group.”

Possible return date: Vs PSG (A), Weds 11 March.

Jamie Gittens

The former Borussia Dortmund winger could soon be back in action after receiving positive scan results. Speaking ahead of Wrexham, Rosenior revealed that Gittens would soon be working with the group.

"Jamie Gittens is getting really close [to a return] and he had a really positive scan," said the Blues' coach. "We hope that he can be back with the group within the next seven days or so.”

Possible return date: Vs Newcastle (H), Sat 14 March.
