Mikel Arteta faced the media following Arsenal’s victory over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League. Two goals from Gabriel Jesus and a strike from Viktor Gyokeres shocked the San Siro as the Gunners won their seventh successive European clash.

It all but confirms their finish as league leaders with only one more game to play, a home tie against Kairat Almaty. There were some big performances outside of the goalscorers, including Cristhian Mosquera and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The win came after making seven changes and being able to rest several key players ahead of a Premier League clash with Manchester United at the weekend.

Here is every word from this evening’s post-match press conference:

On the game

We're very proud, not only for tonight's game but for what we've done in the competition so far in seven matches. With one game to go to be already in the position that we want to be.

A massive prize to the team because we know how difficult it is. And then tonight it was a test. Probably we didn't have the necessity in terms of the points, but we really had the hunger and the desire to come to a place like this against a top, top side and prove what we are and what we can do. And I'm really, really pleased with what I've seen.

Two goals for Gabriel Jesus, a man-of the match performance. Is that kind of a statement for him that he's coming back and getting back to his best level?

This is great. We've been missing Gabi a lot. I think he's going to raise his confidence level with the teams because we have different profiles in that position, that we have with the wingers in other positions.

And the fact that those players are playing at that level, Viktor comes in and has a great impact as well in the game. It only makes us better and that's what we're seeking.

Just on that, when you rotate your strikers, is that the perfect outcome that one scores and the other one comes off the bench?

If I had to write it, probably that would be it. So I'm very happy with that. I'm very happy as well with most of the individual performances. I think they were incredible. You don’t win in San Siro without that. Mosquera, he’s supposed to be another two weeks before coming back.

But the medical staff and the sports scientists they've done incredibly well with him to work every single hour to give him the chance to play. Today he had to play. And against the strikers, I think he's done an incredible job as well.

So Kai was on the bench again as well. The fact that you've got those three fit now, Jesus, Gyokeres and Havertz, how much can they help each other and drive each other forward?

A lot, because we played the fourth consecutive game away from home in four different competitions in 10 days, I think it was. So it's crazy, basically. And no matter that we've done it, we've been able to do that because we have rotated, because players feel important, players are fit to play when it's needed.

Myles had to play today 95 minutes and he does it, and he does it really well. And that's the only way to sustain the level, the demands and the objectives that we want.

It's a good year to win something? (Italian translation)

We'll see. It's too early yet, but the objective is to get to May with the possibility of winning. And every day we have to work hard, given the energy we've had today, this ambition. And if that's the case, maybe we'll get it.

Arsenal have obviously beaten Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid. Last season's beaten finalists, of course, at the top of the group. Can you quite believe that? You've beaten all those teams. What does that prove about Arsenal and their chances of actually winning the title?

First of all, the ambition and the conviction that we have that we can compete against any team. Then you have to do it on the day. In order to do that a lot of things have to go your way, and you have to put a lot of things on the table to make it happen.

And I love the attitude of the team to come to this table in that atmosphere against the opponent that we have, because they are really good and they make it so hard for you, because they stretch you so much. In two passes, you're open. But we played with a lot of intelligence, and when we have to manage the game, we've done it with the Champions League.

It's a very important thing. And the starters made an impact, the subs made an impact, and that's all the ingredients that you need at the end of the day. You want to have the option to win it.

Good evening. In one part of the match, Inter played with courage, almost on par with a team like Arsenal. Is there something that impressed you about Inter that, in your opinion, Inter is at the level of Arsenal and the other big, super teams in Europe? (Italian translation)

Yes. Last night I didn't sleep very well, because I had that feeling that a team that in two passes makes an opportunity for you. It happened two or three times. You lose the ball in certain spaces. It's very dangerous. We were two against two.

Every time at the last line, with the quality they have, it's very difficult. But we played with a lot of personality. We were also lucky when we managed to score the goal. On an emotional level, the team did very well.

Congratulations for the win tonight and the performance in the Champions League. Can I just ask about Ethan Nwaneri? Lots of reports that he could leave the club online before the end of the month. Is he likely to do that?

We certainly have to assess the situation. Obviously, Ethan is not playing the minutes that he deserves and needs at his age. We're going to sit down this week and address the situation and give everybody's opinion.

At the end, we'll make the decision that we believe is the best one for the player, because we have a massive talent there and we need to look after it.

What's changed this season with the Champions League? Obviously, seven wins out of seven games and teams that you've beaten. I think about two seasons ago, you seemed to have struggled, particularly away in Europe. What's kind of clicked this season to just be so dominant across all these opponents?

Hopefully, your learn with experience is very much bringing you an opportunity as well to understand your team better and the Champions League and what is required. There is a level of efficiency when you come to these places that you need to have. We certainly had that tonight, apart from the last few chances that we missed at the end.

I think the team has matured, very ambitious, and emotionally very controlled as well in different parts of the match. We have to carry on going.

If Ethan Nwaneri does go on loan this season, what could minutes away from here do for his development going forward?

Well, that's it. Let's first of all make the decision, the best one, and then we can see what the impact will be.
