Ex-Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is currently without a club but he has, reportedly, been given the opportunity to return to another former side in Leicester City.

Ex-Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been reportedly approached by former club Leicester City over a potential return to the King Power Stadium, as they search for a new head coach.

Maresca left Chelsea on New Year's Day after 18 months at Stamford Bridge. In his time at the club, he led Chelsea to the Europa Conference League title, a Champions League place and the Club World Cup crown.

The Italian moved to Chelsea from Leicester after a successful season in charge of the Foxes - in which he led the club to the Championship title in 2023/2024. Leicester are now on the lookout for their fourth new manager since his exit following the sacking of Marti Cifuentes.

The Foxes suffered relegation back to the Championship last season, and currently sit 16th place in the table. The Mirror report that the club have been 'in contact' with Maresca over potentially taking over on a short-term basis.

It's claimed that Leicester have offered Maresca a lucrative incentive based package until the end of the season in an attempt to bring him back to the club.

The 45-year-old has been linked with various jobs, including at Man City, leading them to knowing that he may not be open to a longer-term deal.

A move would see Maresca link back up with some players who excelled under him at the King Power Stadium, including Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi. He would also join a club who he spoke highly of following his exit.

Speaking after Chelsea’s narrow 1-0 win over the Foxes back in March, he said: "I met the best people in my life in terms of football at Leicester. The owner and the sporting director - so I hope for Leicester they are going to be in the Premier League.

"I'm surprised, but it's not my job. I'm thinking and I'm focused just about Chelsea, but I feel really sorry in case they are not Premier League club because the people are very good people; they care about you, care about the family, care about the kids. It's so difficult to find these kind of people in football - I hope for them they stay in the Premier League."

Speaking to The Guardian in November 2014, the Italian also said: "I will be thankful to the club, the players and the fans because it was a fantastic season.

"I met people that are very difficult to find in football; the owner, his family... they are fantastic human beings.

"They care for the players, the staff, all of the people who work inside the club. And then in terms of players, it was top. I will be thankful for all of my life to that squad. Most of them, I'm still in contact with."
