Despite once being sold for £1million by Pep Guardiola, Morgan Rogers is now valued higher than Newcastle's Alexander Isak.

That's according to the CIES Football Observatory, a research centre that provides data and analysis on players through statistical methods. The website's data suggests that Rogers, 23, following his standout season with Aston Villa in the 2024/25 campaign, is worth between £95million and £109m.

The England international netted 14 goals and provided 16 assists in 54 appearances. Rogers only transferred to the Midlands club in February 2024 from Middlesbrough for an initial £8m fee, which could potentially rise to £16m if all add-ons are met.

In contrast, Isak, who scored a career-high 23 league goals last season, is estimated to be worth between £84m and £97m. Liverpool have already had a bid of £110m turned down for the Swedish striker, with the Magpies reportedly valuing their star forward at a staggering £150m.

Rogers is certainly highly prized by Villa, who rewarded him with a new contract last November. Despite sanctioning his £1m sale to Middlesbrough in 2023 after failing to make a first-team appearance for Man City in four years at the club, Guardiola has always recognised Rogers' exceptional talent, reports the Mirror.

Rogers - who claimed the PFA Young Player of the Year award earlier this summer - ensured the City manager had a front row seat to his brilliance last season, as he found the net and provided an assist in Villa's 2-1 victory over the then-reigning league champions last December.

Speaking following the match, Guardiola acknowledged Rogers' departure had nothing to do with his ability, but rather with the calibre of players the youngster faced competition from in the same position. "Do you know what happened with some players?

"It was a team that won the treble and the quadruple. Sometimes it's the right tempo, the right time to give the chance," the City manager told reporters after the match. "Of course, everyone knows how good Morgan is.

"A lot of players went on loan or have been sold. But he was in that age, that moment, we had the players that we had that allowed us to create the most successful years in the history of our club.

"In that moment, sometimes when they arrive they are two, three years younger and at that moment there is Kevin in his prime, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling and sometimes it's difficult. That's the only reason why.

"In the situation we are in right now, of course these kinds of players would be with us. This is obvious. I'm happy for him because he's a lovely guy. He exploded last season and this season he's a really, really top-class player. England have another exceptional player."

Before City's 2-1 triumph over Villa in April this year, Guardiola reiterated his views on Rogers, stating: "He was in the second team, and trained sometimes with us, and we could see something like could do it, but the impact he's had in Villa, what a player, we had an exceptional player here, absolutely."

Rogers played the entirety of Villa's 0-0 stalemate with Newcastle on the season's opening weekend. Although he's expected to stay at Villa beyond the summer window, there have been past rumours linking him with Arsenal and Tottenham.
