Tottenham Hotspur have begun work on signing a highly-rated Premier League winger in January, but they face competition from a rival.
The left-wing role has been a problem area for Spurs this summer, and it has been reported that Tottenham are exploring entering the market for a wide-forward in January.
It was first revealed by Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg last month that Spurs may turn to a Brentford winger to solve their problem after his impressive displays so far this term.
The player in question is Kevin Schade, who has earned a call-up to the German national side on the back of his performances at the Gtech Community Stadium this term.

Fabio Paratici has started working on bringing Kevin Schade to Tottenham
Journalist Mark Brus has now reported on CaughtOffside that Spurs are ‘already working behind the scenes’ on a January deal for the 23-year-old.
He says that the former Freiburg man could be the next player to leave the West London club following the sales of Bryan Mbeumo and Yaone Wissa in the summer.
In fact, it is alleged that Fabio Paratici has started preparations to reunite Kevin Schade with Thomas Frank at Tottenham in the upcoming transfer window
Schade is thought to be seen as the ‘perfect profile’ for Spurs and the fact that he already knows Frank’s system well is seen as a positive at the North London club.
Spurs face competition for Schade’s signature
Mark Brus reveals that Aston Villa are also keen on securing the Bees star’s signature and will offer competition to Tottenham.
The journalist adds that it is unclear which project Schade will be more attracted to, pointing out that while Spurs can offer him Champions League football, Unai Emery’s men have been more consistent in the Premier League over the last two years.
Last week, TBR Football claimed that Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also circling over the Tottenham target.
