Federico Chiesa has responded to reports that Liverpool is on the verge of securing Alexander Isak in a huge summer transfer.

The Reds achieved a significant breakthrough with Newcastle for the unsettled striker during the early hours of Monday morning, following agreement on a transfer. Isak is understood to have touched down on Merseyside to undergo his medical examination before completing his dream switch.

The prospective signing of the striker brings fresh excitement to the champions' summer recruitment drive, as they head into the international break maintaining their perfect record following a 1-0 victory against rivals Arsenal that extended their flawless start.

In an Instagram post by Fabrizio Romano, he stated: "Alexander Isak, set for medical as he signs a six year deal until 2031.

"Liverpool will pay £125m fee as Newcastle get £130m with solidarity payment included after the deal sealed.

"The two clubs have already exchanged documents for Isak deal overnight, official statement set for today.

"THE BIG MAN IS COMING."

Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa was among those who liked the post.

Chiesa's reaction is interesting, as he's struggled for minutes since joining Liverpool a year ago. The arrival of Isak will only push Chiesa further down the pecking order

Isak, 25, is expected to become the latest marquee addition following Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Hugo Ekitike, and Giovanni Leoni, who have all committed to the Reds.

Gary Neville is among those to praise Isak.

"Isak is one of the top center-forwards in the world," said Neville over the weekend. "He's a real player.

"He's the one player I've seen give Saliba and Gabriel and Virgil Van Dijk a real hard time over the last couple of seasons.

"He's really caused them problems. He's a different-level player."
