Filipe Luis could reunite Cole Palmer with forgotten Chelsea star as secret talks revealed

Filipe Luis has previously expressed his affection for Chelsea and its 'special' pressure to win titles.

Filipe Luis and Nicolas Jackson could be a match made in heaven at Chelsea. The Blues star is expected to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, despite Bayern Munich inserting an obligation-to-buy clause into the loan agreement back in September 2025.

football.london understands that the Blues and the German giants agreed on a package worth around £70m. Bayern paid a £14.2m fee just to take Jackson on loan for the season, while also agreeing to pay a further £56.2m for his services on a permanent basis, so long as certain conditions were met.

It's understood that if the Senegal international makes in the region of 40 appearances this season, the clause will be activated. But, with only 28 games under his belt and just six matches left of the season, maybe seven if the Bundesliga champions reach the Champions League final, it will be impossible to achieve.

Jackson looks set to return to west London in the summer – just in time for the appointment of a new head coach. Luis was briefly linked with a move to Chelsea at the start of the year when Enzo Maresca stepped down, but Liam Rosenior, who has since been sacked, was appointed instead.

According to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, the former Blues and Atletico Madrid defender was sacked by Flamengo back in March after the club president discovered that he had reportedly held talks with BlueCo behind his back.

It's said that Luis had held talks with the Chelsea owners about a potential move to Strasbourg, another club in their portfolio. Despite hoovering up eight trophies in just 18 months, Flamengo decided to part ways with the 40-year-old.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.

Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.

Before Luis was given his marching orders, he led the Brazilian giants to the last 16 of the Club World Cup. In the group stage, he masterminded a 3-1 win over Chelsea.

Pedro Neto had given the Blues an early lead before Flamengo scored twice in quick succession on the hour mark. A few moments later, Jackson was shown a red card for a dangerous challenge on Ayrton Lucas.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Luis leapt to the defence of the underfire Chelsea striker. The former Blues defender, who won the Premier League during his solitary season at Stamford Bridge, said: "First of all, I love Chelsea.

"I spent one really happy season there, we won the Premier League and the League Cup, and I made special friends and played with the best players in the world for a season, and I was really happy there.

"So I know how the club is special and how the club needs to win titles because of the pressure inside the club, it happens. But he [Jackson] is so good, he’s young, he has all the potential and quality the club needs.

"For sure, he will surpass this little mistake. I think it was clear, I just saw it in front of me, I haven’t seen it on the TV yet, but for me it was a red. But it is just a small detail for a player who is a big player; he can be one of the biggest strikers in the world.’

If Luis were to become the next Chelsea head coach, he could help Jackson realise his potential. With a little help from Cole Palmer, of course, who chalked up 15 direct goal contributions in just two seasons with the Senegalese star.
