Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher didn't hold back in his response to Mohamed Salah's shock outburst in a series of accusations against the Reds talisman.
Salah's future at Anfield is uncertain after his explosive comments following the 3-3 draw with Leeds at the weekend, in which he suggested he had been thrown under the bus by the club and is unfairly targeted by Carragher.
The Sky Sports pundit let rip on Monday Night Football, branding Salah's conduct a 'disgrace' before suggesting the Egyptian had failed to help summer signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak settle after big money moves to Anfield.
Carragher used the win over Eintracht Frankfurt as an example to prove his point, in what was one of few bright spots so far this season. Salah had been dropped to the bench for the game as Slot shuffled his squad.
Wirtz managed two assists in the game as Liverpool ran out 5-1 winners but it was one incident in the game that riled Carragher. Instead of teeing up the German for a tap-in, Salah went for goal from a tight angle and was denied.
On the incident, Carragher said: "If he doesn't score another goal or make another assist for this club, I don't care. He's been amazing.
"Where he really let himself down in my eyes was this season in Frankfurt and another game, where there's a guy who's starting for Liverpool who needs a goal more than anyone, Florian Wirtz.
“Instead of just being a great player for the club, be a great ambassador for the club, and roll that ball to him for an easy tap-in, and go over and give him a hug and a kiss and say, 'you know what, you're the guy who's going to take this Liverpool team forward. I don't need any more goals.'
“So in terms of on the pitch, the one criticism I've got, help the other players, help Florian Wirtz, help Isak, don't be obsessed with your own numbers."
Wirtz's frustration at the incident was there for all to see too as the German threw his hands in the air as he was denied a golden opportunity to get his first Liverpool goal.
Speaking after the game, the German said: "I know that I can do much, much more. I think the second half was really good, and from everyone else too. So I'm satisfied that we've won today and that I finally have a goal involvement."
It remains unclear if Salah will play for Liverpool again, having been left out of the squad for the Champions League game against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
He is expected to be available for the visit of Brighton this weekend before he departs for the Africa Cup of Nations, with Salah suggesting he could well leave the club in January.
