Foden, Stones, Rodri - Man City's big contract questions after Savinho deal

Manchester City transfer latest with the Blues having tied Savinho down to a new deal.

Manchester City are making a Friday night habit of contract announcements.

Savinho became the latest to put pen to paper on a new deal, signing a six-year deal just a matter of weeks after seemingly being open to joining Tottenham Hotspur.

That move was blocked by City and the Brazilian is back in the first team fold after missing the early weeks of the campaign through injury.

He has now agreed fresh terms, following on from Rico Lewis and Nico O'Reilly earlier this season. All three new contracts were confirmed on a Friday night.

City have the nucleus of a squad tied down to at least 2028 but there remain a few contract questions to answer between now and then. John Stones' deal expires in the summer and a decision must be made on his future in the coming weeks and months.

Captain Bernardo Silva also sees his contract run out in 2026 and the Portugal international said this week he knew exactly what he was going to do.

Perhaps the two most imperative decisions revolve around Rodri and Phil Foden, who are both out of contract in 2027 and both vital to City. Last season was a write-off for Rodri while Foden's form dipped significantly.

At their best they walk into the first XI of most, if not all, top sides in world football. Deciding the long-term future of both must be chief among the City to-do list in the coming months.

It was evident last season at Liverpool just what having key players in their final year of contracts can do with so much talk surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah on Merseyside. City will not want a repeat of that outside noise. Here's when every City player's contract expires.
