Former Arsenal star's public spat with singer Chappell Roan and marriage to Jude Law's ex

Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Jorginho married Irish singer Catherine Harding in 2025, but their family life in Brazil has attracted widespread attention, including an incident involving pop star Chappell Roan

Former Arsenal midfielder Jorginho became accustomed to being at the heart of the excitement throughout his eight-year Premier League tenure. But the Italy international's personal life also comes with its fair share of intrigue.

In the summer of 2025, the 34-year-old exchanged vows with Irish singer and entertainer Catherine Harding. However, Jorginho wasn't the first high-profile figure she'd been romantically involved with after previously dating a Hollywood star.

Chappell Roan incident

While in Brazil, Harding's daughter, Ada, recently experienced a distressing encounter involving pop star Chappell Roan. More precisely, it involved an alleged member of her security, who was accused of making the 11-year-old cry following a brief moment with the 'Pink Pony Club' artist at a São Paulo hotel.

Ada and Harding had intended to attend Roan's headline performance at Lollapalooza but abandoned their plans following the incident. Jorginho addressed the situation via an Instagram story, explaining that Ada had simply walked past the singer's restaurant table, smiled and continued on without making any request or invading her privacy before matters reportedly escalated unexpectedly.

He said: "A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife [Harding] and my daughter, saying that she shouldn't allow my daughter to 'disrespect' or 'harass' other people.

"He even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, whilst my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot."

In response, Roan shared a response video on Instagram: "I'm just going to tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard, who is not my personal security. I didn't even see, I didn't even see a woman and a child like...no one came up to me, no one bothered me, like I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel.

"I think these people were staying at the hotel as well. So, the fact that, like, a security guard, who was – I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child, I did not.

"They did not come up to me. They weren't doing anything. It's unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there's no action even taken."

Harding, however, disputed this account by insisting the guard was certainly not employed by the hotel and expressed hope that Roan "learns a lesson" from the incident.

Jude Law ex

Former Chelsea star Jorginho began dating Harding in 2019. Their relationship blossomed shortly after he separated from his ex-wife, Natalia Leteri, with whom he has two other children.

Harding also has a child from another previous relationship. However, she and BAFTA award-winner Jude Law (who supports Tottenham) had already parted ways when their daughter, Ada, was born in March 2015.

Jorginho, who initially seemed hesitant to marry again, entered the picture four years later, and the couple welcomed their own son, Jax, in 2020. Today, it's evident he maintains a close bond with his stepdaughter, who has resided with him in Brazil since his transfer to Flamengo during the summer of 2025.

Sex life

During the production of Jorginho and Harding's segment on 'Married to the Game', viewers received more of a personal glimpse behind the scenes from certain stars. This occurred when Harding asked Amazon Prime's production team to leave their residence so she and her partner could reconnect following one of his trips away.

"Jay's coming home in two days in the evening," she said on camera at the time. "He's actually said we're having an hour together in the afternoon so I don't care who is here, they need to get out of our house for an hour. So if you're filming on Friday you have to get out for an hour!'"

Harding was never one to shy away from sharing intimate details with the public, a trait not common among many couples. It's therefore hardly surprising it took less than a year for the happy pair to conceive their first child after getting together.
