A new favourite has emerged in the race for Tottenham Hotspur to find a new manager as early contender Roberto De Zerbi appears to have distanced himself from replacing Thomas Frank at the Premier League club. De Zerbi, 46, left Marseille just hours before Frank was shown the door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the last time as the club look to find another head coach.

However, despite the initial speculation it seems the Italian coach is not interested in the Spurs job despite reports stating he is eager for a return to the Premier League and the bookies have already lined up another favourite to potentially takeover at the north London club.

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Marco Rose is now lined up as the bookies favourite to succeed Frank, according to the latest odds from William Hill. The bookies have him priced at 5/4 while De Zerbi has drifted to 3/1 for the vacancy.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “The market for who will replace Thomas Frank at Spurs has taken an interesting twist this morning, with Marco Rose – a new addition to the market – our new outright favourite.

“The German has been immediately installed as the 5/4 frontrunner for the role, with previous market leader Roberto De Zerbi drifting from 6/5 to 3/1. The race is far from a foregone conclusion however, with John Heitinga (5/1) and Mauricio Pochettino (9/2) also in contention.”

Rose, 49, was most recently at RB Leipzig where he was let go back in March 2025 after disappointing performances in the Bundesliga and Champions League. During his time at the club he won the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup in his first season when he was appointed back in September 2022.

He also had spells at Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund before then with the latter ending within just a season having led the club to second-place in the league but failed to get out of their Champions League group and bowing out to Rangers in the Europa League.
