Manchester City injury latest ahead of the Premier League game with Burnley as Erling Haaland fit to feature
Erling Haaland will be fit to face Burnley this afternoon but Manchester City remain without four senior stars for the visit of the Clarets.
Pep Guardiola provided an injury update in his press conference ahead of the clash, and declared Haaland 'ready' to face Scott Parker's side. The striker has six goals in five league matches this term and has recovered from the back pain that prompted him to be replaced in the final quarter of last weekend's draw with Arsenal.
Guardiola also provided another injury boost with the news that Mateo Kovacic could come into contention for a place in the squad against Burnley. The midfielder has yet to feature this season having undergone surgery in the summer on a troublesome Achilles injury.
But the Etihad clash will come too soon for four City players. Here's the Blues injury latest.
Abdukodir Khusanov
Injury: Unknown
The Uzebekistan international has made the right back spot his own in the past few weeks with three successive starts in that position. But he was forced off injured at half time in the draw with Arsenal and is unlikely to return before the international break.
Expected return date: Everton (H), October 18
Omar Marmoush
Injury: Knee
Marmoush suffered an injury in the fourth minute of Egypt's goalless draw with Burkina Faso earlier this month. He tried to carry on but was withdrawn five minutes later.
He returned to Cairo on crutches and underwent a scan in Egypt to assess the extent of the damage. City have since confirmed the 26-year-old will be out for a few weeks and while they were hopeful he could return prior to the international break, it is understood he is targeting the Everton game when the Premier League returns from a two-week hiatus.
Potential return date: Everton (H), October 18
Rayan Cherki
Injury: Thigh
The France international is sidelined for two months after picking up a thigh injury.
There is hope in France that the former Lyon midfielder could return before the international break. Although Cherki has a slight chance of proving his fitness for the trip to Brentford a week on Sunday, the view within City remains that the clash with the Toffees two weeks later is his more likely return date.
Potential return date: Everton (H), October 18
Rayan Ait-Nouri
Injury: Ankle
Ait-Nouri suffered an ankle injury in the early stages of his home debut against Tottenham,
The £31million summer signing from Wolves played against Brighton but did not join up with the Algeria squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Guinea earlier this month.
The Algerian is not expected to return to training until the end of the October international break at the earliest. That could potentially put him in the frame to face Everton as he aims for a return to action next month.
Potential return date: Everton (H), October 18
Mateo Kovacic
Injury: Achilles
The midfielder is back in full training and has a chance of being in contention for the clash with the Clarets.
He underwent surgery in the summer on an Achilles injury. Speaking ahead of the game with Burnley, Guardiola said of Kovacic: "Maybe (he will be fit for Burnley). t's a long injury, surgery, but he is getting ready. He is not fully ready but step-by-step."
Potential return date: Burnley (H), September 27
